Gibbing enemies with a fully-charged shotgun blast at close range will never get old, the shooter trance is here in full effect, and my reactionary panic swapping to the mini-gun when a room of enemies spawns in brings me to my younger days. The localized damage when enemies take damage and the stylized graphics are a great improvement on the old formula. TLDR: Prodeus is a great callback to older boomer shooters with a rocking metal OST, but barely misses the mark in surpassing its source of inspiration. This review was written while still in Early Access, but the launch is so close to release I feel confident in standing by this review. Not a complaint, just a thought!Īnyway, this game is awesome, if you love retro shooters, you will enjoy this, nuff said.įull Disclosure: This gift was a gift from a friend. Maybe they could implement a kick that does some damage and some knockback on the smaller horde types. It would certainly help with conserving ammo, especially in the higher difficulties. So far the only melee is your fists and they are a seperate weapon slot that really only work on the most basic zombie types and during the later game you really don't have time to be whipping out the dukes to take em out unless you leave them for last after wiping out all the bigger baddies. What I would like to see from this game is a quick melee.
#King prodeus how to
I'm not sure how to describe it, but they made it look unlike any other game I have ever played that tried to do the same thing. They mastered the mix of old school pixels and modern day lighting. The other thing about this game is the visuals. I played on medium difficulty, but now knowing what I know, when I play again it will be at a higher difficulty to up the adrenaline. Walk into a room, throw a switch, and get ready to asses your enemy types, your terrain and what weapons you will need to focus on depending on your ammo. The rocket launcher is perfect for sniping heavy enemies while the charge rifle is awesome for both hitting multiple enemies or sniping other snipers who use the same weapon. The minigun is for groups of heavy close enemies who need more damage output. The shredders are great for fast elimination of groups at close rage but while controlling your shots as to not waste ammo. Shotgun utterly obliterates at close range especially with the charged shot, but you can also use it at mid range in a pinch. Pistol is great for taking outr basic enemies at range. All the guns have their advantages and disadvantages. I literally moaned in pleasure when I ran into a group of those deamon things that rushes at you as I had just found the minigun and needed and excuse to use it. There's something else about this game I cannot quite put my finger on, but putting my finger on the trigger and pulling is the one of the most satisfying feelings.
I find it to be a mix of Doom, Doom 3 and Quake. I haven't even finished my first run through and it's still in early access right now but I love it. The gameplay is fast, frantic anxiety inducing and excellent.
